THe SRAM S80 uses a domestic manufactured 82 mm deep structural carbon fiber rim handmade at Zipp outside Zipp outside Indianapolis, Indiana. This is Zipp's advanced shape toroidal rim with a complex melding of changing radii along the side of the rim for optimal strength, aerodynamics and ride quality. The advanced rim used in the SRAM S80 rear clincher is laced to an imported, sealed precision bearing hub using 18 of Sapim's legendary bladed spokes laced radially in the front and 20 Sapim spokes in the back in a stable, robust cross-two pattern. The spoke nipples? Alloy, of course, to reduce rotating weight at the critical outer circumference for better climbing and acceleration- and even better braking.
